The Maine is an American alternative rock band from Tempe, Arizona, formed in 2007. Bassist Garrett Nickelsen and friend and drummer Patrick Kirch, met in November 2006, and they started talking about making a band.

Singer John O'Callaghan joined soon after auditions for the band with no prior vocal experience, along with guitarists Jared Monaco, and Ryan Osterman with that lineup forming the band in January 2007
